Choose how you are covered

PPS Disability Cover gives you two ways to be protected – based on your profession or how a disability affects your daily life. You can choose one or combine both for more comprehensive cover.

Occupational Disability Provider

Pays 100% of your benefit if you are unable to perform your own or a similar occupation due to disability.

Best for:

Protecting your ability to earn in your specific profession.

Example: Civil Engineer (25)
Amputation due to an accident
100% paid – unable to continue working as an engineer
Functional Disability Provider

Pays 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% of your benefit based on how a disability affects your ability to perform daily activities – even if you can still work.

Best for:

Protecting your ability to earn in your specific profession.

Example: Auditor (25)
Amputation due to an accident
50% paid – able to work, but daily functioning is impacted

Choosing both options: Your claim is assessed against occupational criteria first. If no claim is payable, it is then assessed against functional criteria. A SYNC premium discount applies when both options are selected.

Flexible payout structure

Functional cover may pay 25%, 50%, 75% or 100%, depending on severity.

Combined cover options

Important to know
Occupational cover requires total impairment

A full payout is made if you can no longer perform your occupation.

Functional cover is impact-based

Payout depends on how your condition affects daily functioning.

Claims are assessed in sequence

If both covers are selected, occupational is assessed first, then functional.

SYNC discount applies when both are selected

We have answered some of the most common questions to help you better understand this solution and make informed decisions with confidence.

Am I covered overseas or while participating in hazardous sports?

Yes. You are covered worldwide, including for hazardous activities, with no extra cost or special permission required.

How does the functional disability benefit work?

Claims are paid based on how the condition affects your bodily systems and your ability to function, regardless of your ability to perform your occupation. The payout can be 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% of your cover.

How is an occupational disability claim assessed?

It pays out if you become permanently disabled and cannot perform your occupation (or a similar occupation, depending on your cover).

What happens to my cover when I retire?

The Occupational Disability Provider converts into a Severe Illness benefit that pays out if you are diagnosed with a serious illness, at no extra cost

What if my claim does not qualify under occupational disability?

If you have taken up the functional disability benefit, your claim will be assessed under functional disability, giving you another chance to qualify for a payout.
