Sustainable indemnity protection for healthcare professionals.
PPS Health Professions Indemnity was developed to provide comprehensive quality indemnity protection, delivered through excellent service, at a fair premium to ensure long-term sustainability.

Built for the realities of modern healthcare practice.
Healthcare professionals face increasing medico-legal complexity, rising indemnity costs and evolving regulatory pressure.
PPS Health Professions Indemnity was developed in response to the growing challenges faced by South African healthcare professionals – combining individually assessed risk, contractual certainty and global expertise.
Risk is assessed fairly based on your professional clinical scope, experience and claims history.
Designed to ensure long-term protection during and after your active clinical years.
Developed alongside ProAssurance Corporation, with experience from one of the world’s most litigious healthcare environments.

The product
PPS Health Professions Indemnity Cover provides sustainable indemnity protection during and beyond your active clinical years, with contract certainty for ongoing cover.
The policy operates on a claims-made basis, requiring cover to be in place when a claim is reported. However, an extended reporting endorsement contract allows for late-reported claims after cover has ended.
While not mandatory, early self-reporting of potential claims is encouraged to enable proactive intervention and effective management of annual cover limits. PPS recognises the emotional impact of complaints and claims.
Claims without clinical merit are not settled to avoid undermining the system and increasing litigation risk. Supported by experienced medico-legal specialists and trusted legal partners, PPS delivers expert guidance backed by over 60 years of combined experience.

Yes. At PPS Health Professions Indemnity, we understand the dynamic needs of modern medical practices, and we are committed to providing tailored insurance solutions to meet the evolving needs of professionals. Our PPS Health Professions Indemnity Group Cover is the trusted choice for practices.
Self-reporting is not a prerequisite for cover. A claim will be covered if there was active insurance both during the clinical treatment and at the time the claim is reported, or through the Extended Reporting Endorsement benefit.
This feature was crucial during development, as it is unrealistic to expect doctors to always identify the specific incident that might lead to a claim. We encourage self-reporting of adverse outcomes to better protect our insured professionals. It also provides useful statistical data to better understand the development of claims over time.
PPS Health Professions Indemnity Cover protects you both during your active practice years and beyond. With the contractual Reporting Endorsement benefit, you have the indefinite right to request assistance.
Offering lower cover limits at reduced premiums is not part of the PPS Health Professions Indemnity strategic objective of offering quality, comprehensive indemnity protection at a fair premium. Offering lower limits of indemnity exposes our members to the risk of cover exhaustion.
